Petition Process for Designating Petitions

Unless you are well versed in Election law and the process of getting to the ballot, it is hard to grasp everything that goes into this. As a first time candidate I have learned a lot from this process, and regardless of how far I get in this process, this has been a great learning experience and has sparked a political aspiration to change Election laws.  Election laws are updated annually. So, in a nutshell, I filed my Designating petition to primary in the September 12th election for the Independence party.  I received an objection letter from a Republican Resident and District Leader that they objected to my petition.  I am currently waiting for a determination from the board of elections.

I would like to encourage people to run. I am in the Independence party, I am not endorsed by my own party, they have endorsed the Republican party.  I came in after endorsements were handed out, Therefore I am trying to primary for my party line. If I don’t get on the line and I don’t file as an independent  then I will be done for this election. Stay tuned.

This was for the primary election on 9/12/17 and this was so exciting to receive.  Looking forward, the November 7th election is upon us, I am humbled and proud to be a part of this process.  I have learned a lot over the last couple of months and have chartered waters where I have never been before, and will make me a better person.  I encourage everyone to step out of the box, don’t be afraid of the unknown, for without trying there can be no defeats or wins, you learn with both scenarios. In the drawing for ballot position I got the #2 spot out of 2 spots. My identifier number is 2F. So now we wait for September 12th for the Primary Election.
