Independent or Independence Party

I am in the Independence Party, I have been getting signatures for my petition and the same subject comes up over and over.  Independence vs Independent. After a conversation, which after awhile sounds like the old who's on first routine, we come to an understanding.  A 2012 article I pulled up sounds similiar to the discussions that I have been having, http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/voters-victims-article-1.1217271.  People who meant to go into the Independence party, filed as and Independent and vice versa. I think the majority that I have talked to meant to be an Independent and signed up in the Independence party.  Well you cannot change for this election I am told but you can for next election, but if you are not registered at all you can register to vote, check the links at https://www.helenpesce.info/register-to-vote. Here is the Wikipedia info for Indpendence: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independence_Party_of_New_York. Here is the Wikipedia info for Independent voter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Independent_voter. It may be time to change the Independent name to halt the confusion, http://www.latimes.com/opinion/opinion-la/la-ol-voter-registration-california-american-independent-party-20140403-story.html.  Maybe call it no affiliation party.

CERTIFICATE OF ELECTION A Certificate of Election certifies your placement on a party line after you win an election. This was for the primary election on 9/12/17 and this was so exciting to receive.  Looking forward, the November 7th election is upon us, I am humbled and proud to be a part of this process.  I have learned a lot over the last couple of months and have chartered waters where I have never been before, and will make me a better person.  I encourage everyone to step out of the box, don’t be afraid of the unknown, for without trying there can be no defeats or wins, you learn with both scenarios. Good luck to all in the upcoming election.

Petition Process for Designating Petitions

Petition Process for Designating Petitions Unless you are well versed in Election law and the process of getting to the ballot, it is hard to grasp everything that goes into this. As a first time candidate I have learned a lot from this process, and regardless of how far I get in this process, this has been a great learning experience and has sparked a political aspiration to change Election laws.  Election laws are updated annually. Example of the Designating petition https://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/law/DesignatingPetitionNoLines.pdf . https://www.elections.ny.gov/NYSBOE/download/law/2017ElectionLawUpdate.pdf Here is a guide to filing a designation petition. http://gograssroots.org/files/designatingpetitionsguide.pdf So, in a nutshell, I filed my Designating petition to primary in the September 12 th election for the Independence party.  I received an objection letter from a Republican Resident and District Leader that they objected to my peti...
